April 2019 saw us on an fantastic adventure of hiking for four days along various sections of the Great Wall. We were fortunate to time it well ... actually no, I lie. My husband did a good job of making sure that nothing else was booked for the April/ Easter break, as it's either Spring or Autumn to hike the wall ... or not at all.
We had an amazing experience, and we are incredibly grateful to have had the chance to introduce our kids to history, culture, the resilience of nature .. and to the joys of camping in a medieval, stone-flagged watchtower for a night. Needless to say that I'm very glad they enjoyed it, it was definitely an experience to be had, but I'm not sure I'd want to do it again!
Hiking Hidden Dragon, Jinshanling section and The Wild Wall on the other hand, was spectacular.
